[Ocular tilt reaction in thalamic infarct].
Ocular tilt reaction (OTR) includes skew deviation, eye torsion and head tilt. It is usually accompanied by a tilt in the subjective visual vertical. OTR seems to reflect an otolithic dysfunction. This case report shows an OTR of central origin as a result of simultaneous paramedial thalamic and mesencephalon rostral infarcts.
متن کاملThe Ocular Tilt Reaction and Skew Deviation
The ocular tilt reaction composes a triad of ipsiiateral head-tilt, ipsilaterai conjugate ocular torsion, and skew deviation with ipsilaterai hypotropia. It results from a disruption of central vestibular pathways conveying information from the semicircular canals and otoliths. Skew deviation is one component of the syndrome which may or may not be associated with the concomitant torsion and he...
متن کاملLate attacks of paroxysmal ocular tilt reaction.
A 54-year-old patient had a right mesodiencephalic hemorrhage in 1992, with residual double vision until 2000. He was symptom-free until 2010, when he developed fluctuating diplopia. We observed paroxysmal attacks of a right ocular tilt reaction (OTR) (video at Neurology.org), whereas in the interval he had a left OTR. MRI showed a calcification of the preexisting lesion (figure). The attacks a...

Amadeo R. Rodriguez, MD Robert A. Egan, MD Jason J.S. Barton, MD, PhD, FRCPC In skew deviation, one eye is higher than the other, causing vertical diplopia. Skew deviation is a prenuclear disorder resulting from imbalance in otolith input to the oculomotor system, produced by unilateral lesions anywhere from the otoliths to the interstitial nucleus of Cajal in the rostral midbrain,1 and as such...
متن کاملVestibular Function In Vestibular Schwannoma
Introduction: Traditionally vestibular function has been assessed using caloric irrigations; new methods have failed to reach the same level of accuracy. Vestibular nerve dysfunction occurs with 'acoustic neuroma' or 'vestibular schwannoma. Quantitative testing of hearing by audiometry is much more widely available than quantitative vestibular testing, although consideration of vestibular dysfu...
